Michael had a job pushed back a week so we decided on a Thursday that we would surprise the girls and take them on a spring break trip the next day. We drove 20 hrs straight through to Fort Myers beach, Florida for a week trip and it was worth every minute of that 39 hr round trip drive.

Last Sunday we decided to have waffles with peanut butter and powdered sugar, not to mention lots of syrup which Michael loves on everything especially his "Cinnamon toast crunch" cereal.

There is a place we try to go to every year that has a haunted hay ride and a haunted house/barn. We all did the haunted hay ride and then only a select few went in the haunted barn. The hayride was really good especially if you sit in the very back of the wagon like we did. There was a headless horseman (on a real horse!), chainsaw guys, trucks banging the back of the wagon chasing us and much more! It was very entertaining!
And by the way, this is a real man we are standing by! I'm not sure how tall he is!

The final step in finishing our room addition project is to complete our fence. While my parents were visiting, my dad and I got a good start, now I need him to come back out and help me finish. The wedding was a blast, we partied hard and it was fun to have all the family there especially mom and dad. Kim was the matron of honor and I was the best man so things were crazy, but luckily mom and dad helped relieve some of the stress.

Dad and I hit the jackpot when we found this plastic chain at Walmart, we thought we should do a ball and chain but we didn't have any balls. Dad found some Nerf balls and painted them black, it was a huge hit!

I've been helping with Stake Girl's Camp for several years now. It is such a great experience for young girls in the church who live in an area that is not saturated by members. The last few years I have been assisant to Lorrie Monn who has directed the camp for 9 years. This was her last year as The Lafayette Stake Girl's Camp Director. She is ready to start some new endeavors in her life. I just hope she knows what a difference she made in the lives of so many young women. The only thing she ever hoped to accomplish while serving as camp director was to help the girls have an experience that would strengthen and help them gain a personal testimony of their Savior, Jesus Christ. I think every year she accomplished that! She is an amazing woman. Lorrie, thanks for such wonderful memories that I will always cherish!

Storms in Indiana

We've had some pretty bad weather here in Indiana. My Grandma and Grandpa Ray had a huge tree fall on the back of their house that caved in their whole back porch. We had a big tree fall down right behind our property in the back yard, and we had our neighbors (The Allen's) trampoline end up in our tree in the front yard. The neighbors were watching the the storm from their front window and saw the Allen's trampoline go over the top of their neighbors house and ended up in our front yard tree. It was pretty crazy! I've experienced storms like this since I was a kid, but still is a little scary and fascinating when it happens. Michael goes crazy! Luke Menard "American Idol"

Michael works out at the Crawfordsville Park and Rec. He was in there one day and Luke Menard came in to work out. He and Michael struck up a conversation. Then today Michael was working out again when Luke walked in. He said Hi to Michael and they worked out together again. Michael was telling him how our family loves to watch American Idol and that our girls voted for him and are big fans. He then told Michael to have Courtney and Camilla come in and he would say Hi to them. So, Michael called me at home and had me load up the kids and come over to meet him. My sister works at the Park and Rec and also went to high school with him. He is seriously the nicest guy ever. He seems very genuine and talked about how he is headed out to LA next week for the Idol Gives Back and to further his career. The girls were so star struck they didn't say a word! It was really cute.

We won the Volleyball District Tourney today!!! It was really exciting!!

A couple of weeks ago the girls asked Kim if they could have a slumber party if they won the district tourney! So....looks like we will have 11 eleven year old girls spending the night! CRAZY!!!! But, it was really cool to win!

Camilla's Dinner Theater

Camilla was in the Pleasant Hill Dinner Theater on Thursday. She looked like a pro up there. About a month ago she told me that 1st graders were not allowed to be in the Dinner Theater unless they had an older sibling participating. Courtney did not want to do it at all. So the next day she came home and said, "I went up and asked the music teacher if I could be in it anyway!" So the teacher said she would think about it and then she told Camilla she could. I was proud of her for taking the initiative and asking.

Off to Disney for Christmas Break...

Two days after New Year's we were on our way to Disney World. The party of 9 included: Kent, Theresa, Cole, Kinsey, Patrick, Michael, Kim, Courtney, and Camilla. We had a great time. The first couple of days it was a little chilly, but we will take 60 degrees over Indiana's 14 degrees any day. Disney MGM now aka "Hollywood Studios" has Rockin Roller Coaster and Tower of Terror (Camilla went on this...and Kinsey, Kent and Courtney bailed) There was a High School Musical Performance.

They had the Osbourne Family Music to Lights still on... which was amazing.

We stayed at Saratoga Springs Resort, which is close to Downtown Disney. We had never been there before, so that was fun. These are some cool Lego's!

One of the best parts of the trip was going to see Cirque du Soleil. We were on the second row and it was amazing. We recommend everyone to see this.

Our day at Magic Kingdom was Camilla's Special Day(Her Birthday was on the 8th). We entered the park and she received a card saying "Happy Birthday...Let's pick out a Crown!" So, we went to a store and she got to pick out her favorite crown and some jewelry/makeup to get all dolled up. Courtney and I took her into a quiet place and fixed her hair and makeup and turned her into a princess for the day.
She wore a special Birthday Button so everyone in the park said Happy Birthday to her where ever she went. We ended the night watching Tinker Bell fly across; the lights and firework display was really cool. I think she really had a great day.

Every day it was a little warmer and the kids (and big kids) didn't pass up a chance to swim!

New Years Party Time

The theme for this Christmas and New Years was "Rock Band". Our family has had so much fun playing. We all take turns playing different instruments and singing. (Some of us are better than others...especially the singing part.) And you know how shy our family can be, so it's pretty quiet....yeh right. Here's the girls playing -from left...Kat, Theresa, Kim, Camilla and Jean. Joel was home for Christmas break and hung out with us on New Years. Camilla offered a New Year's Kiss!

We also got to see Aubrey Swinford...sorry Aubrey no picture. Courtney has gotten to be quite the guitarist and Kim and Camilla's choice is usually the drums. Michael's good at it all...even singing when it is Red Hot Chili Peppers.

Sam, Cole and Eli are amazing at playing. It's fun to watch them. Cole plays on the "expert" mode!Kelly and Greg hosted the New Year's Party! Great chocolate fountain!

What's Been Happenin' Recap

Life is just too crazy and lets just face it... we stink at blogging. So, I will just give you a recap of a few things that have happened the last few months.

Courtney received this award on her softball team this year for having the best attitude. The coach commented that whenever anyone on the team was having a hard time that Courtney was there to help them thru and make them feel better and that any coach would be honored to have her. We were so proud of her!

Any given day you can find Camilla trying to climb something...

The girls spent the day with Stan on the Farm. They had a blast!

Courtney ran for student council. She had to give a speech and make posters for it. She came up with these funny posters. Oh...and she did get elected!

Camilla lost her front tooth!

Courtney participated in her first Cross Country Race. For a month they had to run 3 miles everday at practice. She ran a 10 minute mile at the race. Here' s a little story about the race; This is soooo Courtney! During the race we notice Courtney was slowing down and waiting for her friend Kylie(The tall one on right). Apparently Kylie kept telling Courtney she was going to quit and she couldn't do the race and started to get upset...so Courtney slowed down to encourage her to keep going. We were all yelling...GGGGOOO, what is she doing? Why is she slowing down and waiting for Kylie!!! So at the end of the race we gave her a speech about in a race it is every man for themself and to hussle(the competitive side in us) And she said, "But she was upset and I felt bad for her. Man...sometimes adults can learn a lesson or two from kids.

All of downtown Indy was crazy with pregame festivities today with the hipe of Blue Thursday... the Colts opening season began. And it was no different here in Crawfordsville or with my crazy husband! So here's the story; Today I heard the lawn mower going and then stopping several times, so I looked out the window to see what was going on. I saw Michael making some kind of design in the lawn. I had to go upstairs and look out a window to see what it was. Can you tell what it says? As if that wasn't enough, he also went to the front yard and made a big horseshoe in the grass! Then he hung a wooden horseshoe our neighbors made for him on the garage...and then hung a picture on the front door from the big game last year. He's crazy...but I love 'em!

School Times

The girls are back to school. Camilla is a big first grader and attends school all day. This was a little adjustment for her, but she has been very brave. Courtney is a big 5th grader which means her class is the oldest in the school... so she thinks she's pretty hot stuff! I don't know what school is like out west, but they have to be in school by the first bell that rings at 7:50 a.m. So, it is back to a routine and no more late nights... which is very hard at the Clark's house.

Michael celebrated his 36th Birthday on Saturday. We had the family over for cake and ice cream. I think he had a fun day! His big present is going to the Reds Baseball game next weekend. We have seats right behind the Red's dugout...so he's really excited.

Furniture Has Arrived!

On Wednesday our furniture finally arrived after seven weeks of patiently waiting. The only thing missing is our lamps which are ordered, but not in yet. The "motion" sofa, loveseat and recliner have the most comfortable fabric we've ever felt. You just kind of melt into the fabric. And all of them recline. I have a feeling this picture of Michael (and Alex) will be a familiar sight from now on. Even though my expression doesn't show it in this picture, I am very happy with the way it turned out.

I love watching kids play in the summer time! I get such a kick out of looking out my window and seeing what these girls are up to next. Watching their creative minds at work is so fun. Whether it be climbing trees, having a "biker chic" parade, or playing in the sprinklers...it is just so fun to see them not have a care in the world and just be kids!

Uncle Kent felt sorry for Courtney who was patiently waiting for her mom's help to make a special treat. So, he put on an apron that says "Martha Stewart Wants Me" and started helping Courtney with her treat. They made a special pink fudge treat that Courtney found in one of the cook books that Curtis and Shandy got her. She's such a little Betty Homemaker!

Courtney's Summer Softball

Courtney enjoyed her softball this summer. She didn't love the practices so much, but she loved the games. She played second base. She did really great and almost always got on base. I think the worst part about the whole experience this year, unfortunately, was dealing with out of control parents that needed to get a grip on kids softball. Some of them acted like their kids were playing in the major league, instead 8-11 year old girl's summer softball. It made for a bad feeling amongst the crowd. But, we just tried to ignore them and make the best of it... and have a good time! We spent many hours this summer sitting in lawn chairs watching games. Michael said now he understood what his parents went thru for him. He said they came to every game of his to support him even though they probably had better things to do. So...thanks Mom and Dad Clark for being awesome parents!

Camilla enjoyed her season of softball this year. We were really proud of her. She was on the six to eight year old team, so she was the youngest on the team, but she held her own. She didn't let any of those older girls push her around!

Movie Night

Courtney decided it was time for us to have another family movie night. So, of course, we couldn't just sit down and watch the movie. She made a whole movie theme. Kinsey (Courtney gets her creativity from her) helped her find the appropriate outfit to "manage" the movie experience. She handed out tickets and created an assortment of candy and popcorn. She even scanned the movie and hung a sign to the entrance to the room. She cracks me up. And she made her little sister help her. It was fun!

Clearing Ground and Cleaning Up

We should have taken a before shot of how this side lot looked before today. Just ask Carl and Sam; it was a mess! We had a pile of brush; wood, leaves, dead plants, parts of the fence, and a huge hundred year old tree stump. So, thanks to the help of Stan and our incredible neighbors we got it cleaned up. Our side lot is an unusual shape. It is really wide in the back. Our property line goes from the small tree on the left to our fence, but then it gets narrow as you get up to the front of the house. Anyway, it looks so much better. Next year's project will be to move the fence over to our new property line.

This month has been a whirl wind! We have spent every night Mon-Friday at Courtney and Camilla's ballgames or practices. Michael has been doing a huge job for the Country Club in town that has turned into a big pain in the bootie. We took a trip to Kentucky for three days for our Ray Family Reunion. And somehow we managed to get this room done! Michael worked hard on the structure of installing the trim while Kim painted everything. It was crazy busy, but we are happy with the end result.

Michael did such a great job on the crown molding! We looked at some books with different styles and got a good idea of what we wanted, then he just figured it out and went for it. I was really proud of him.

Our Theme for Camp this year was Inspiration Island..."Treasure the Truth"

On our Bishop's night we had a Luau. This is me and my friend, Candis,who was the camp specialist for Crawfordsville. We had a good time!

For our service project we went to the Lafayette Humane Society and did whatever service we could do for them. However I refused to do what this girl was doing....

This is sooooooooooo gross!

Ok...so Kim gets home from camp on Friday and Michael is patiently waiting for her to come home to start painting!! So, Saturday morning we start the painting process.

So, here it is all primed and ready to go...but, it was only 4pm so Kim thought...what the heck... and went ahead and started putting the final paint color on. Michael was very concerned about Kim's color choice so he had to leave the room for a while. But, when he came back he liked it better.

We got home from taking Carl and Sam to the airport and found these cards from Sam. They were the nicest, generous, and most sincere cards ever. He even left a card for Alex, which made us laugh really hard. Thanks Sam! You are so awesome. We knew you were, but getting to spend so much time with you made us realize even more why Carrie loves you so much! Thanks!...and of course we think you are awesome too Grandpa Clark!!

Carb Day at the Race Track

Here is Carl, Sam, Michael, andKent enjoying a fun day at the race track. A week before the big 500 Race, Indy hosts Carb Day where all the racers practice for an hour with spectators. It was fun...and loud! Carl enjoyed doing his favorite thing...watching people; and there were plenty to watch.

We have had so much fun with our brother-in-law Sam and Grandpa Clark out here. We've done a little work and a lot of playing, but we thought we better at least post a picture of the work accomplished first. They worked a hard day of putting insulation in. The next step was drywall, but then they realized how much work was going to be involved. So, instead, they made an executive decision (unbeknown st to Kim) and Michael decided he would hire it out. So, while we spent a hard day playing at the lake, a crew came in and started working on drywall. We were excited to come home and see the progress.

Almost There

Today my neighbor, Kirk Allen, and I got most of the vinyl siding done on our addition. I couldn't believe how it tied everything together. We were worried that our new room would look separate from the rest of our house, but I think it flows nicely. Now it's on to the inside where the real work begins....electrical, insulation, drywall etc. I think I'll save that part for my Dad and Sam when they come later this month.

Bustin Through...And Some Good Ol' Fashion Therapy

Well, we finally were able to bust thru the wall on Saturday night. It was very exciting. You may notice some writing on the wall before Michael rammed thru it. It had some names written on it of some people that Michael and I would love to... well to be honest...take some aggression out on. Along with the word "methadone" written on the wall are the people that ultimately are the reason Clay is no longer with us; a loser guy who gave Clay the drug and a girl that was with Clay that decided to wait until it was too late to call for an ambulance. So...needless to say, Michael has had some anger towards these people, and what better way to take that anger out than beat the crap out of something! So...He put on his motorcycle helmet and as the girls counted down from ten he rammed thru the wall. Then he came back and beat the rest of the wall down with his fist (gloves on of course). He said he has never felt better. Heck with sitting and talking about how you really feel ..sometimes you just need some good ol' fashion therapy.

By the end of the day on Saturday this is what it looked like. Pretty amazing how fast and skilled these guys are. Michael has worked with a lot of these guys through different construction jobs, so he knew who would be the best. The mail box in front is not ours...we have two neighbors next to us that are Clark's also (no relation though).

About 5 years ago Michael & I decided that our goal would be to try to add a big family room on to our house. We have become the family and neighborhood hub and thought it would definitely be to our advantage. So, two years ago we purchased the land on the south side of our house hoping that some day we would be able to build a room. Well, our hope and dream is finally reality. We are very excited. We have barely begun the process. The footers were poured in today and then it started pouring down rain. So, we may be delayed a little...but we are on our way.

I was doing yard work and was raking up all the leaves around the trees in the flower garden when I noticed something moving. At first glance I panicked thinking it was a opossum or something, so I yelled for Michael. We then uncovered these cute little baby bunnies. They were so little. Of course the girls were so excited to see them. We got on the internet to find out what to do with them and it said to leave them alone and the mom comes and feeds them every night. They were really cute and it was a fun sight to see espicially being so close to Easter.

Chicago Temple

We made a trip to Chicago this weekend. I do miss the days when the temple was 5 minutes from my house in Bountiful, Utah. Now, when we plan on going it is an all day adventure. It takes us about 3 and 1/2 hours to get to the Chicago Temple and that's definately on a good traffic day. We left on Friday and spent the night so the kids got to swim at the hotel and have fun. Michael and I were able to go Saturday morning to the temple while the girls stayed with Kent and Theresa at the hotel. The youth had an appointment that afternoon to do bapitisms so Cole was able to go to that. It was a very good day and always worth the long trip once we get there. You will have to ask Michael about his white pants problem though! Pretty funny! We didn't take many pictures. It was very cold and snowing!

The Agreement

I love my husband dearly and he is a very hard working man, so I understand that he needs "his" time and "his" things to be who he is. But, sometimes I think Michael is a 16 year old boy stuck in a 35 year old man's body. He plays his xbox and I don't say a word. He loves his truck and says that one of these days he's going to jack it up and put big ol' tires on it. I just roll my eyes and hope and pray that never happens. Recently he put a new stereo in his truck that now he can literally bust an eardrum listening to Red Hot Chili Peppers. And now he wants an Ipod so he can instantly download up to 1,000 songs to his stereo. So...I came up with a deal when he proposed his last wish to me. Now, I am not a "Nag" wife and never wanted to be. So, for 13 years I have patiently sat back and let him decide when he is going to take responsibility "on his own" to commit to certain responsibilities. Well...it never has happened... so here is the agreement I gave him. We'll see how it goes.

Fun in the Snow

We had fun playing in the snow on Monday Evening. Snowball fights and building our big snowman. And of course Michael had to add the Colt's Logo on there. The snow is melting now so it was a good thing we took advantage of it.

Circle The State with Song

The Indiana Music Educators Association puts on a Children's Choral Festival every year called Circle the State with Song. Out of 18 elementary schools and 9 middle schools around Indiana only a handful of kids are picked to be in this. Courtney and 15 other kids from her elementary were picked to participate. It was moving to listen to all these kids sing good and patriotic songs. We were proud of her! If you can't tell she is the little one smack dab in the middle bottom row right in front of the conductor. Poor thing gets her smallness from her mom:)

Alex in the Snow

Winter Sucks!!!

We got hit with a huge winter storm on Tuesday night that left 15" of snow along with 30-40mph winds. We have been shoveling snow and digging out driveways, some with 3ft drifts. School has been out all week and I couldn't work Tuesday or Wednesday which was fun, but now it's just a big white mess.

As you may or may not know Courtney is our child that insists on a production of some sort for every event that happens...and her birthday is definitely the biggest of them all. I blame this on the first child syndrome with which a parent tends to over exert themselves with extensive, creative parties and such. Well, Courtney turned 10 years old this past week and this year was no exception. She picked a "That's So Raven" Theme this year. The birthday-slumber party consisted of 8 of her closest friends from school. All of you Clark's out west can't appreciate a true girl party like we can. (Maybe the Bell/Oram clan will). But, it involves a lot of screaming and high pitch noises and laughing and running all through the house. This year I found a few making phone calls to boys. YIKES! I can't believe it has begun! Anyway, it was 2am...then 3 am...then at 5am I had finally had enough and had to put my foot down. I was getting up in three hours and if anyone knows me they know I like my sleep! The next day...since Michael left me alone with these wild kids most of the night he was kind enough to clean up the mess. He actually found dried pop that had splattered all over our kitchen wall at some point and makeup smeared all over his recliner. He wasn't too happy about that. I guess the girls had smeared lipstick all over the girls' faces who fell asleep first. It was a pretty funny sight...but not so funny when we saw the damage. Anyway...we did survive another crazy year.
I'm so glad that Camilla is not nearly this high maintenance!

Patrick's Proposal

The coolest thing about our whole trip to Disney World was that Patrick completely shocked us all and proposed to Kinsey! We all walked around to the wishing well by Cinderella's Castle and threw in our pennies to make a wish. Then all of a sudden we look and Patrick is down on one knee asking her to marry him. It was awesome! We were all taken by surprise which is exactly what Patrick wanted...So Congrats to Kinsey and Patrick. We love you guys!!!

Not much to say except...GO COLTS!!!!!!! Kent is such a die hard fan he wore every Colts T-shirt he owned and took one off every quarter or more! He's crazy. The picture of him that looks like the football is hanging out his nose was actually thrown up to them right as the picture was being taken. There was a huge parade in downtown Indy yesterday and then there was so many fans packed inside the dome it was filled to capacity and no one else was allowed in. They were all there to greet the champions.

Disney World
